Art Department

We have weekly time-tabled classroom music and art/craft lessons for Prep to Grade 6. Incorporation of all arts in the classroom program via the integrated curriculum and specific lessons.

Allocation of instrumental teachers.

Provision of visiting artists, incursions and local excursions.

Displays and performance of students work at school and the local community level.

Utilisation of staff, parents, the D.O.E and local community expertise for students programs and the servicing to staff.

Ongoing promotion of links with local arts and support organisations includes the Prahran Library.

Art experiences provide opportunities to express and communicate students' ideas, feelings and understandings using a variety of artistic forms, mediums, processes and the students learn as presenters, critics and theorists.

The objective is to develop intellectual and expressive potential of students through aural, spatial, kinesthetic, interpersonal and visual experiences.

Also developing skills in arts criticism and aesthetics through describing, analysing, interpreting and evaluating their own and others art work.
