Stonnington Primary school is comprised of a beautiful main building that has a heritage overlay signifying it's historical significance. There are a number of additional buildings that house the specialist areas of art, LOTE and library, Out of School Hours Care and additional external programs that utilise our buildings. The Montessori Early Learning Centre, Windsor and CHIP Programs (Children with Higher Intellectual Potential) are currently located at our school and accessed through The Avenue entrance at the rear of the school premises. There is also a multi-purpose hall that is used for whole school activities, drama, Perceptual Motor Program, the Circus Arts Program and weekly assemblies. The Administration area is located on the ground floor of the main building and is accessed through the front entrance of the school in Hornby St. The school is proud of its well-maintained grounds and safe recreation equipment, which provides for passive and active activities. The School Council is continually working towards upgrading school facilities to accommodate program priorities and to ensure a pleasant, safe learning environment. We are proud of the exciting play equipment that provides for fun and fitness for both junior and senior students and the upgraded playing fields that include a mini soccer field and running track. Two areas will be protected by brightly coloured shade sails by the end of 2006. There is also a community shelter area with rubberised asphalt flooring where children enjoy another shaded play area. Stonnington Primary has had a science/environmental focus during the last two years that has resulted in a beautiful sensory garden and vegetable garden, complete with garden shed and water tanks. This has complemented the Healthy eating focus at our school. The school has easy access to Stonnington Council facilities, parks, recreation centre, swimming pool and library which all enhance our educational programs. Teachers are rostered to provide supervision when students are arriving at and departing from school, and during lunch and recess times to ensure the well-being of all children.
