Stonnington Primary School caters for students from Prep, the first year of school, through to Year 6. In Victoria, students must turn 5 by April 30 of the year in which they are to start.
Students are grouped into four levels across the school, Prep, Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6. The Prep to Year 2 students are housed in a brand new facility, our Kingsbury Early Learning Centre, provided through Building the Education Revolution. The learning spaces provide students and teachers with the flexibility to move between spaces and learning centres, and increases social connections.
The Windsor Senior Learning Centre is housed in the main building. Students and teachers work in a similar style to their junior counterparts offering flexible groupings and team teaching.
International Students are welcome at the school and are provided with English as an additional language programs and are matched with a suitable buddy to enable a smooth transition.
Students are provided with a range of opportunities to extend their learning through involvement in various extracurricular activities such as sustainable learning, active after school and music. A camping program is conducted across the school with the Prep to Year 2 students engaging in a sleepover at the school in October/November. All classes elect Class Captains at the beginning of the year.
There is a strong House System where students connect strongly with their House. Whole school activities are organised in Houses and it is most pleasurable to see the older students guiding the younger students through tasks, providing further connections.
